Roz Morris Ghostwriter

Roz Morris is a writer who loves books in every form—writing them, editing them, and helping others bring theirs to life. She has ghostwritten bestselling novels and memoirs for publishers like Random House and Puffin, and she’s also the author of her own novels, memoirs, and books on the craft of writing.

Alongside her own projects, Roz works closely with writers at all stages of their journey. She offers one-to-one coaching, detailed manuscript critiques, and practical self-editing advice that helps writers shape their work into something they can be proud of. She’s also taught creative writing masterclasses for The Guardian and Writers & Artists, judged international writing competitions, and serves as editor-in-chief for the Alliance of Independent Authors.

Roz enjoys working across many genres—fiction, memoir, non-fiction, and everything in between. Her clients include debut authors, experienced professionals, business leaders, and creatives who all share one goal: to create a book that truly connects with readers.

Can you introduce yourself?

The short version: I write books. And I help others write theirs.
I also coach writers who would like to produce a manuscript under their own steam and give detailed critiques to help them bring the work to a publishable standard.

Where did I learn this?

  1. Editing and coaching debut authors for Cornerstones Literary Consultancy.
  2. Ghostwriting novels and memoirs for Random House and Puffin. This has given me a sixth sense for the stories, themes and dimensions that lurk below the waterline.
  3. Teaching creative self-editing masterclasses for The Guardian newspaper in London.
  4. Writing my own novels, memoirs and writing craft books. I’m still practising what I preach, every day.

I’ve also taught masterclasses for Writers & Artists and I’ve spoken at the Chartered Institute for Editing & Proofreading. I’m editor-in-chief for the Alliance of Independent Authors. I’ve judged major writing competitions in fiction and creative non-fiction (including the Amazon Kindle Storyteller Award and the Vine Leaves Press International Voices Award). And a manuscript I doctored in its early stages went on to win the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.

I work with a wide variety of genres – fiction, instructional non-fiction, scientific works, speculative non-fiction, straight memoir, and memoir blended with most of the above.

Who is your ideal client?

Anyone who wants a book that will be a great read and will satisfy their audience. I’ve worked with businesses, CEOs, sole practitioners, new writers who’ve had all kinds of professional lives and now wish to see their words in print – and seasoned writers who want a partner for their work in progress.

What kinds of projects do you enjoy most?

Books! I like a big project.

How do you structure your fees, and what factors influence the cost of a project?

I charge an hourly rate in blocks of 20 hours at a time. If a project is straightforward and clearly conceived it costs less; if a lot of development and rethinking are needed it will naturally cost more.

I keep in close and constant contact during the work so that everyone knows how the budget is being used. You use me as little or as much as you want.

How can our readers connect with you?
